So how can you choose the perfect gift. When it comes to gift giving, so many of us struggle with what gift we can give that will truly be appreciated by the recipient. Clothes, jewelry, perfume, and gift certificates will put a smile on the recipients face no doubt. After almost 20 years in the gifting business, I’m pleased to give you my take on how you as a gift giver can stand out every time you need to present a gift for any occasion.

Its quite incredible that just a decade ago, gifting someone a computer, a remote control helicopter, even a cell phone would have made an everlasting impression, filled with incredible joy and excitement. But today, with consumers connected directly to factories both locally and abroad, the value of these items are depreciating exponentially. And even if a consumer isn’t purchasing from a manufacturer but from a distributor, the volume of purchases made through group buying websites has effectively cut the original perceived value of retail products in more than half.

And guess what, I haven’t even talked about ali express, ebay, or amazon which are not just websites for purchasing products, they are websites used to instantly reveal the competitive value of a product. Here’s an example. I was at ‘Best Buy’ the other day and the line up that I was waiting in, actually saved me money on my purchase of a surround sound entertainment system.

What do I mean?

Well… while I waited to make my way to the till, I searched the very item sitting in my ‘physical’ shopping cart on an app on my mobile and found it was $45 less ‘all in’ if I purchased online. All I did was show my screen to their staff at time of payment and they price matched it.

So the question remains. If anyone can purchase any item easily online, and instantly determine the value of an item gifted to them by conducting a quick search, how can anyone give a gift that would genuinely impress the recipient, and be of perpetual value to them for not only the moment they receive it, but for a long time thereafter.

It would be an obvious bias if I told you the answer is to purchase a 3D Laser Gift photo crystal simply because that’s what I live, breath, create, and sell every day. Sure I’d be thrilled if you decided on a laser crystal but whether you choose to gift a photo crystal or not, my point is that taking the effort to give a CUSTOM GIFT.. over a gift simply bought off the shelf makes a world of a difference. First and foremost, it shows you took time. Today, time is the most valuable commodity. Here’s the oxymoron. The faster that technology enables us to communicate, transact, & multitask, the faster and higher the expectations become for output and efficiency. What do I mean by this?

Well back when a letter was sent by post a response time of a few weeks was the expectation. When a letter was sent by email, a response time of a day or two was expected. Text messaging raised the bar to same day responses, and now whatsapp + other mobile messengers that indicate your message has been read demands a response time of few seconds to instant. People just don’t have time. So when you give a gift that shows you took some time to have it customized (some time not a lot of time), it immediately adds value beyond any other gift that one would receive.

Secondly, when you give a custom photo gift, you are making it one of a kind. You are giving something unique because its something that has profound meaning to the recipient. One of the most soothing sounds to a person is the sound of their own name. When people we briefly meet remember our name the next time we meet them, it makes an impression.
